First Post!

Hello world.  This blog is about money matters one experiences throughout the process of becoming a physician.  More than that, it is about striking a balance between your financial goals and professional goals for the lengthy period of time one spends training to be a physician.  US News and World Report in 2010 reported that the average financial debt for a medical student that attended a public medical school to be $138,000.  At about 6% interest, this sum of money equates to roughly $1000 a month for TWENTY YEARS.  Physcians and surgeons are typically top earners in the modern job market, but the prowess to manage the years of inevtiable debt and educational expense escapes past many, myself included.  After all, there is a reason we are not all bankers!  I started this blog to be a place where people could find honest information and help regarding financial management from college, through medical school, residency and beyond.  So enjoy the posts, there will be more information to follow and I welcome your thoughts, comments, and ideas for future discussions.
